The Liebster Award: Questions and Answers

Hello There!

My newest friend from Mommy Lives Clean has kindly nominated me for a Liebster Award.  Participating in the Liebster Award gives bloggers with under 200 followers the opportunity to share a little more detail into who they are with the blogging community.  It also helps readers discover cool new blogs.  I heard that if you get nominated and don’t partake, your blog will die alone in some dark corner of the internet, perish the thought I’m just starting and I’d hate for that to happen!

That being said, I am thankful to be a part of this fun and social opportunity.  Before we get to the answers to my questions, here are the rules of accepting a nomination:

1. Answer the questions given and then come up with 10 new ones to ask your nominees.
2. Nominate 8 other blogs, let them know you have nominated them and put a link to their blog in your post.
3. No Tag backs.
4. Nominees must have under 200 followers on any platform.
5. You must tell all the blogs that you nominate that you have nominated them.

Here are my answers to the questions from Mommy Lives Clean:

1.)  Why did you begin blogging?

I have been obsessed with health and wellness for many years now and amongst my friends and colleagues I had become the go-to person for natural remedies, prevention and non-toxic solutions for every day things.  My push came two years ago when my mother passed away from emphysema.  Her battle was long and fraught.  I am convinced that the reason she died so young was because of all the toxins around her (and in her home) that hindered her fight against her underlying condition.  She was very much a victim of good marketing and convenience and despite her asthma, emphysema and allergies surrounded herself with so many sprays, chemical cleaners, house products and unhealthy protocols that I believe without them her life could been extended and enhanced.  This coupled with all the allergies, cancer, disease, illness, fertility problems, and other weird, or awful health problems that have become all-too-common I believe our chemical-filled lifestyles are effecting things more broadly than we think.

2.)  What are your favorite blogs to follow?

Dr Mercola, Don Tolman, Food Babe, Crunchy Betty, Mother Earth, to name a few!

3.)  What are you most passionate about?

Good health, reformer pilates, animals, food, cooking, disease prevention, natural remedies, vegetarian food and desserts.

4.)  What is a great memory from your past?

This is also my earliest and most distant memory, when I was about 18 months and still in a stroller we went to the zoo with my mother and uncle.  We were looking at monkeys while we ate our lunch.  My mother was eating a sandwich and one monkey reached out and grabbed her sandwich and jumped to the top of his enclosure and ate it just like a person!  I still laugh about it to this day!

5.)  What is your favorite movie?

I have a few:  ‘The Party’ (so retro and funny), ‘The Blindside’ (beautiful and inspirational true story), ‘The Great Race’ (gorgeous and such a great adventure), most recently I saw ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ (another true story and simply amazing).

6.)  Who is your best friend?

My husband.  We belly laugh every single day.

7.)  What is your favorite place that you’ve ever visited?

Again, I have a few!  It’s hard to pick… Coconut Beach in Far North Queensland (we loved it so much we got married there and visit every single year), The Grand Canyon (very spiritual and ‘wow!’), the Acropolis in Athens (first glance took my breath away), Paris (glorious!), and any castle anywhere (fairy tales are made of these, not to mention he history).  Australians tend to be travellers and when they finally get somewhere they tend to see it all because its such a long and expensive trip!

8.) If you could change one thing about this world, what would it be?

Just one?  For greed and money not to be the driving force behind everything that is evil.  I wish for people to live in everything that is natural, beautiful, in truth, best health where there is no judgement and 100% vegetarianism.

9.)  What is your favorite post that you have written?  Include a link!

This is an example of my ideal post that includes information, a pictorial recipe, and received some nice feedback:  Homemade Natural Laundry Powder

10.)  What is your favorite type of food to eat?

I love lots of tasting foods the best.  A broad vegetarian feast of little foods based on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours, and sweets to match.  Pure heaven!

I Nominate the Following Blogs:

1.  A Southern Hippie Blog

2. Simply Davelyn

3. Quarter Acre Farm

4.  Scratch It

5. Sweet & Savoury by Shailja

6. Fit Zen Femme

7.  The Green Boss

8.  Eat to Inspire

10 Questions for my nominees:

1.  Why did you begin blogging?

2.  Name one thing that makes you happy.

3.  What is your favourite quote?

4.  Where do you come from?

5.  Name your top five favourite blogs.

6.  What or who inspires you the most?

7.  If you could invite three people (living or dead) to dinner who would they be?

8.  What is your favourite social media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest or other?

9. What is your favourite post that you have written?  Include a link.

10.  What is the hardest thing you’ve found about blogging?

Thanks again to Mommy Lives Clean for nominating me for this award!

  1. Hey there! This is (formerly) Crunchy & Chic responding to your nomination—thanks! I’m a bit late, but I replied to your comment on my website, not sure if you get notifications. Anyway, I do accept and I’ve spent the afternoon answering the 10 questions you’ve posed for me.

I’m actually in the process of revamping the blog and as I was updating, I inadvertently changed the URL for Crunchy & Chic without leaving a page to redirect people to the new one. It’s now The Green Boss: http://thegreenboss.wordpress.com. If you can, be sure to update this Liebster Award post with the new information. Thanks again!
